Fernelmont Japanese Garden

Overview
The Fernelmont Japanese Garden appears to have been part of the Jardins-Nature de Franc-Waret, a thematic garden ensemble at Franc-Waret in the municipality of Fernelmont, Belgium. A 2010 academic table of Japanese gardens outside Japan lists “Fernelmont Japanese Garden”, gives the designer as Marc Knaepen, and gives 1994 as the founding year.
History
The garden belonged to the broader Jardins-Nature de Franc-Waret site, located behind the Château de Franc-Waret. A 2000 bonsai-event notice describes the Jardins-Nature de Franc-Waret as twelve themed gardens spread across 3 hectares behind the eighteenth-century castle, maintained in a naturalistic way and open seasonally from April to October at that time. This confirms that the site functioned as a public / visitor garden ensemble around the period after the Japanese garden’s reported 1994 creation.
The designer attribution comes from the published Japanese-garden list in Polat, Güngör and Kaklik’s 2010 article on Japanese garden design principles, which lists Marc Knaepen as designer and 1994 as the founding date. I did not find an official surviving Jardins-Nature page or a current municipal page confirming whether the Japanese garden is still maintained or visitable.

Detailed design descriptions are not available in the sources I found. Since the garden was part of a multi-themed natural garden ensemble rather than a documented traditional Japanese garden with a known plan, it is safest to describe it as a Japanese-themed / Japanese-inspired garden within a broader private thematic garden landscape.
